Ultimate Texas Hold'em: Pre-Flop Strategy

The pre-flop 4× raise is the most important decision in Ultimate Texas Hold'em: it's the largest bet you can make, and you make it before seeing a single community card. Getting it right is most of the game's skill.

Raise 4× with any pair of 3s or higher, any Ace, K-2 suited / K-5 offsuit or better, Q-6 suited / Q-8 offsuit or better, and J-8 suited / J-10 offsuit or better. Everything else checks. Look up your exact hand below.

If you check pre-flop, two more decisions follow: after the flop, bet 2× with two pair or better, a hidden pair (except deuces), or four to a flush with a hidden Ten-or-higher; after the river, bet 1× unless 21 or more dealer cards would beat you, in which case fold.
